Founded by Julie and Josef Kostenzer, later lovingly continued by Gitti Gschösser and now run in the third generation by Sofie Gschösser – our house looks back on a long and personal history.

Staying with us is more than just accommodation – it’s about feeling at home from the very first moment. Our rooms and studios are all individually designed, each with its own unique style. Natural wood, warm details and a relaxed atmosphere create a space where you can truly unwind.

Haus Sonnwend is not a modern new-build hotel, but a traditional house that has grown over time. It has been carefully renovated and continuously developed with great care – giving it its distinctive and authentic charm.

Whether you prefer a snug double room, a practical studio or generous space for the whole family – everyone will find their favourite place to stay. Many rooms also feature a balcony with beautiful views of the stunning Alpbach mountain scenery.

For generations, our family has been closely connected to the traditional craft of orthopaedic shoemaking. This expertise, attention to detail, and strong sense of quality and fit shape everything we do – and it’s exactly this feeling we aim to pass on to our guests.

Your host, Sofie Gschösser, runs the house in the third generation and is herself a trained orthopaedic shoemaker. With our own Schuhhaus Gschösser located right in the village, we combine traditional craftsmanship with modern advice and personal service.
